Throughout time the Torah of God has changed, according to the will of God, by men who had the set-apart airflow, and were given authority from above to do so. This is why until Moses, brothers were permitted to marry their sisters, for it was necessary for the sons of Adam to marry their sisters to populate the entire earth. Yet when Moses came, who had the anointing, he gave mankind a new instruction given to him by God, “you shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister”. And thus what was formerly permitted then became forbidden. The Torah of God changed. More was required under Moses, in the context of sex.
You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister…Leviticus 18:9
And in a similar manner men were permitted to divorce their wives, and these divorced women were then formerly permitted to remarry other men. And men were formerly permitted to marry more than one wife, which is polygamy. Even Abraham was a polygamist, and married Sarah, then Hagar. And Sarah was also his sister, which under Moses, he would’ve been forbidden to marry. Yet when Yeshua came, not only did he forbid polygamy, which is repeated by the apostles, “husband to one wife”, but Yeshua also forbade remarriage, by saying, “everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery”. For marriage is now only between one man and one woman until death ends the marriage.
…and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house, and if she goes and becomes another man’s wifeDeuteronomy 24:1-2
If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or her habitation.Exodus 21:10
And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and Iscah.Genesis 11:29
Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father though not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife.Genesis 20:12
So, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her servant, and gave her to Abram her husband as a wife.Genesis 16:3
Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.Luke 16:18
And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”Mark 10:11-12
Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,1 Timothy 3:2
Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.1 Timothy 3:12
Let a widow be enrolled if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband1 Timothy 5:9
if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.Titus 1:6
And even if a man divorces or separate from his wife, he is not permitted to remarry another woman, because in the eyes of God he is still bound to his wife, and in likewise manner the wife is still bound to her husband. Which is why the Torah says, “the two shall become one flesh”. For in the beginning it was the intention of God to unify the flesh of two, a man and a woman, into the flesh of one, in marriage. And that is why only death can end a marriage, for that is when our flesh returns to the ground, which therefore brings an end to the union of the flesh of two in marriage. And if the wife were to die, then the husband may remarry. And if the husband were to die, then the wife may remarry. But if husband were to marry another woman while the wife he divorced is still alive, then he commits adultery. And in likewise manner if the wife marries another man while the husband she divorced is still alive, then she commits adultery. So, if a husband divorces or separates from his wife, he must either remain sexually abstinent, or be reconciled his wife. And likewise the wife must remain sexually abstinent, or be reconciled with her husband. And because of this great change Yeshua did to the Torah in regards to marriage is one reason why it is perhaps better not to marry, because a man that marries a woman is bound to her until death, regardless of whether she is a good wife or an evil wife. And so, under Yeshua more is now required than under Moses, in the context of sex.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.Genesis 2:24
He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.Matthew 19:8
A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Master.1 Corinthians 7:39
Note: “Only in the Master” means she may only marry a believer.
For a married woman is bound by Torah to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the Torah of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that Torah, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.Romans 7:2-3
To the married I give this command, not I, but the Master, a wife must not separate from her husband, but if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband…1 Corinthians 7:10-11
The disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”Matthew 19:10
As such, when the Pharisees tested Yeshua asking him if it was lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason, “is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason”, he replied to them according to what they asked, “if a man divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality”. For sexual immorality is the reason the Torah gives that a man may divorce his wife, “if he finds an uncleanness in her”. So a man cannot divorce his wife for any reason, except for sexual immorality. And this is what many believers do not understand, and discard many scriptures and twist this response from Yeshua erroneously thinking he was permitting remarriage if there was adultery in the marriage, not understanding that Yeshua was giving the Pharisees the reason a man may divorce his wife, for sexual immorality, according to what they asked and according to what the Torah says. Yet even if a man does divorce, he must remain sexually abstinent, otherwise he commits adultery, because he is still bound to his wife until death. And likewise the wife must remain sexually abstinent, otherwise she commits adultery. And later on Paul also gives another reason that a married couple may remain separated, and that is if an unbelieving spouse leaves. They are not obligated to remain together. Even so, both must remain sexually abstinent, or be reconciled one to the other.
Then some Pharisees came and tested Him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”Matthew 19:3
When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his houseDeuteronomy 24:1
And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.Matthew 19:9
But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace.1 Corinthians 7:15
So does that mean that if 2 if together decides to separate peaceful, they can remarry? Because of this verse below 👇🏻
“But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace”.
1 Corinthians 7:15
Thanks bless you
A brother or sister is not bound to continue living with an unbelieving spouse, but remarriage is still not permitted even if they should separate, in accordance to various other scriptures.
Hi Christian. You said when responding a question to Veronica : ”A brother or sister is not bound to continue living with an unbelieving spouse, but remarriage is still not permitted even if they should separate, in accordance to various other scriptures”. Please could you give us verses of these other scriptures? Now is my question: What if the unbelieving spouse refused to reunite with his husband or wife and goes until get remarried to another person and even get children with him or her? will the brother or sister have to stay alone or single till the end of his life? How miserable he or she will be since his or her unbelieving spouse is ignorant about God’s law? I think the apostle Paul has been so clear about the matter: “the brother or sister IS NOT BOUND IN THIS CASE. GOD CALLS US TO LIVE IN PEACE” as he said (1 Corinthians 7:15). More explanation please.
I already explained this. A brother or sister is not bound to continue living with an unbelieving spouse, but remarriage is still not permitted even if they should separate, in accordance to various other scriptures. Once you marry, you are bound to that person for life, regardless of whether you are living together or not, separated or not, divorced or not.
Hi Christian. As you said this: “Once you marry, you are bound to that person for life, regardless of whether you are living together or not, separated or not, divorced or not”, Does it mean that God will have no mercy on any personne who remarry and will not juge according to the circunstances ? In this case, does it matter for the remarried christians to still being believers and even hoping to be saved at the second coming of Yeshua given that this law grants no hope ?
At the current time God is showing us mercy and not putting us to death for the sins we are still committing, and giving us a chance to repent and stop sinning. But at the return of Yeshua he will withdraw his mercy, and will render punishment upon all who refused to obey. Humanity will be reduced to very people at that time. So fear God, and obey.
